Jeffrey W. Canter, 35, of Indiana purchased three guitars July 30 at Yancey Music Center on South Yonge Street, police said. He told employees he collected vintage guitars and then selected a $5,000 Gibson and a $7,000 Martin Marquis series, the two most expensive guitars in the store, according to a police report. They are replicas of guitars strummed by Elvis and Eric Clapton, respectively.
