Used car dealer Shawn Byrne tried to get JN-36TN —-a reference to John 3:16 — as a personalized license plate. His request was rejected by the state of the Vermont which has a no religion policy for vanity plates. Now it's up to a federal judge to decide if that rule is a violation of the First Amendment.
