Investor's Business Daily - Net purchases of U.S. long-term securities, ex nonmarket flows, fell to $56.5 bil in Dec. from $90.9 bil in Nov. The broadest measure fell to $60.4 bil from Nov.'s $149.9 bil. However the data are sliced, foreign buying fell but remained healthy, analysts said. The foreign inflows are a rough measure of how well the U.S. can finance its large trade deficits, which are starting to cool.
