Investor's Business Daily - Seven of the 12 Fed district banks voted to cut the discount rate by 50 basis points to 5.25%, according to minutes from Sept. 16-18 meetings. But 4 wanted a quarter-point cut and one wanted no change, raising questions about how aggressive the Fed wants to be. On Sept. 18, the FOMC -- which includes the 7-member Fed Board of Governors and 5 Fed presidents -- unanimously agreed to cut the fed funds rate by 50 basis points to 4.75%.
